Selvans Social Farm

Corporate family day · Northern Taiwan venue

A family day venue: bring families to a herb farm in Daxi, and the seedlings the children plant go to social-welfare farms

Every year the search starts again for a family day venue: close by, something for the children to do, and ideally something meaningful. Selvans Social Farm is in Daxi, Taoyuan, about an hour by car from Taipei and Hsinchu. Families plant herbs together, make herb salt and share a farm-to-table lunch. The seedlings they raise join the planting plans of social-welfare farms.

What families can do

Parent-and-child herb propagation

Adults and children cut herb stems and plant them in pots. Each pot can carry a family member's name or nickname.

Hands-on herb salt

Make herb salt with herbs grown on the farm. Every family takes a jar home.

Farm and community tour

Meet herbs like mint and rosemary, and see local farming in the Kangzhuang leisure farming area of Daxi.

Farm-to-table lunch

Local ingredients and herbal drinks, with meat and vegetarian options.

Or swap in one of these crafts

Pick one or two by season, children's ages and group size, in place of the herb salt or before and after lunch. Let us know which ones when you enquire.

Fresh pesto

Blend pesto from just-picked basil and eat it with bread on the spot. It is made fresh with no preservatives and does not keep, so it is enjoyed at the farm only, not taken home.

Herb incense cones and sticks

Grind dried herbs into powder, shape cones or roll incense sticks, let them dry and take them home.

Herbal compress balls

Wrap dried herbs in cotton cloth and tie them into a ball, getting to know each herb's scent and uses.

Herb tincture

Steep herbs in alcohol to learn how herbs are extracted, and take home a small bottle. Adults only, because it uses alcohol.

Five things to confirm before a family day

  • Numbers and ages

How many adults and children, and roughly how old the children are. This sets the difficulty, materials and quotation.

  • Transport

Drive yourselves or charter a coach. For a coach, transport and insurance are arranged through our partner travel agency.

  • Meals

Tell us in advance how many need meat or vegetarian meals, and any allergies or dietary needs.

  • Length of the day

For families with young children, half a day beats a full day: enough to enjoy, not too tiring, and the afternoon is still free.

  • Social impact outcome

If you want the family day in your sustainability report, let us know beforehand. We will record the number of seedlings on the day and present certificates.

What the company receives

A family day leaves more than photos. As with the volunteer day, every result is backed by a document:

  • Sustainability Volunteer Certificate

Presented on the day. It states the number of participants, the type and number of seedlings, and the full name of the receiving social-welfare organisation.

  • Social impact handover form

A formal handover record stamped by both parties, confirming which social-welfare farm receives the seedlings.

  • ESG data summary

Delivered after the event, with ready-to-use template text for your sustainability report.

  • Photos and short videos

Photos and short video clips from the day, for your website, careers page and social media.

Frequently asked questions

What is a corporate family day, and what is it for?

A corporate family day is an event where a company invites employees to bring their families. It is usually about caring for staff and their families, letting families get to know the company, and bringing the team together. More companies now combine family days with community or sustainability activities, so the day also leaves a social outcome.

How do we choose a family day venue?

Companies in northern Taiwan usually look at three things: travel time (ideally no more than half a day round trip), whether children have something to do (hands-on activities hold attention better than watching a show), and weather (for an outdoor venue, ask how rain is handled). Selvans is in Daxi, Taoyuan, about an hour by car from Taipei and Hsinchu, and both adults and children can do the propagation and crafts. Please confirm the wet-weather arrangements when you enquire.

Why Daxi, Taoyuan for a family day in northern Taiwan?

Daxi is within half a day's round trip of Greater Taipei and the Taoyuan–Hsinchu tech corridor. It is about an hour by car from central Taipei or Hsinchu Science Park, depending on where you start and traffic. Arrive in the morning and finish after lunch: the children do not get worn out, and parents still have the afternoon.

What activities can we include? Is it suitable for children?

A typical day has parent-and-child herb propagation, hands-on herb salt, a farm tour and a farm-to-table lunch. The craft can be swapped for fresh pesto eaten on site, herb incense cones or sticks, herbal compress balls, or an adults-only herb tincture. Instructors guide every step, and no farming experience is needed.

How much does a corporate family day cost?

NT$1,500–2,500 per person (indicative, adjusted to the actual programme). Family days vary more in group mix (adults and children) and content, so we quote by numbers and programme. Tell us your date, rough numbers and what you would like to do, and we will send a written quotation within two working days. If you need a chartered coach, transport and insurance are arranged through our partner travel agency and charged separately.

What if it rains? Will the date change?

No. If it rains, we move to a different area or adjust the programme, so adults and children can still take part.

Can a family day also count as a social or sustainability outcome for the company?

Yes. Selvans cares for the herb seedlings your families plant for one month, then hands them over to social-welfare farms with a handover form stamped by both parties. Sustainability Volunteer Certificates are presented on the day. Afterwards we provide data such as participant numbers and seedlings handed over, which you can use to disclose implementation in the social section of your sustainability report.
