A corporate volunteer day from Taipei: a half-day round trip to plant herbs that go to social-welfare farms
Taipei companies planning a volunteer day often run into one of two problems: the venue is so far away that it takes the whole day, or it is close by but the same as last year. Daxi in Taoyuan sits in between. It is about an hour's drive from central Taipei, so you can leave in the morning and be back at the office in the afternoon, without employees taking a full day off.

Frequently asked questions
I lead sustainability at my company and want a family day or volunteer activity linked to ESG. Who can we work with in Greater Taipei, and where?
Companies in Greater Taipei usually choose from three kinds of family or volunteer day: environmental (beach clean-ups, tree planting, habitat care), social inclusion (volunteering at social-welfare organisations) and food and farming (farm experiences, food education). Selvans Social Farm sits where social inclusion meets food and farming. It is a social farm in Daxi, Taoyuan, about an hour's drive from central Taipei, so a half-day round trip works. Every session leaves records you can use in your sustainability report: participants, volunteer hours, number of seedlings propagated and handed over, and an activity record, which relate to social disclosure indicators.
Is half a day really enough from Taipei? What time should we leave?
Yes. The suggested plan is to leave Taipei at 08:30 (chartered coach or own cars), arrive at the farm in Daxi at 09:30, do herb propagation and herb salt in the morning, have a farm-to-table lunch at 12:00, then certificates and a group photo before leaving at 13:30, back in Taipei around 14:30. These timings assume about an hour's drive; we plan the actual schedule around your group size and transport.
What does the company receive after the event?
On the day, a Sustainability Volunteer Certificate stating the number of participants, the type and number of seedlings, and the full name of the receiving social-welfare organisation, plus a social impact handover form stamped by both parties. After the event, an ESG data summary (with ready-to-use template text for your sustainability report), along with photos and short video clips from the day.
Can a Taipei company hold it in central Taipei instead?
The programme runs at our farm in Daxi, Taoyuan, because the propagation, herb tour and farm-to-table lunch all need the farm itself. It is about an hour's drive from central Taipei, and the programme runs in the morning, so employees are back at the office in the afternoon.
Do we need to arrange our own transport from Taipei?
You can drive or car-pool. If you need a chartered coach, transport and insurance are arranged through our partner travel agency and quoted separately by group size and departure point. Selvans is not a travel agency, so we do not book vehicles directly.
How much does a corporate volunteer day cost?
NT$850–1,500 per person (indicative, adjusted to the actual programme). We quote by group size and departure point, based on a group of 20–40 people. The fee covers materials, lunch and drinks, facilitators, and the ESG supporting documents and data after the event. Groups over 40 are quoted separately. If you need a chartered coach, transport and insurance are arranged through our partner travel agency and charged separately. Tell us your date and group size and we will send a written quotation within two working days.
Where is it held? How long does it take from Taipei or Hsinchu?
At Selvans Social Farm on Kangzhuang Road, Daxi District, Taoyuan. Daxi is within half a day's round trip of Greater Taipei and the Taoyuan–Hsinchu tech corridor. It is about an hour by car from central Taipei or Hsinchu Science Park, depending on where you start and traffic. Leave in the morning and you are back at the office in the afternoon.
How long is it? Do employees need farming experience?
It is a half day, 09:30–13:30, about four hours including lunch. No farming experience is needed. Instructors guide every step of the propagation and the hands-on session, and the programme is designed for office staff on their first day in a field.
What if it rains? Will the date change?
No. If it rains, we move to a different area or adjust the programme so the day goes ahead.
Where do the seedlings go?
Selvans looks after the seedlings from each volunteer day for one month. Once they are established, we hand them over to social-welfare farms, which saves those organisations the cost of buying seedlings from their own budget. Each handover has a form stamped by both parties, and the certificate names the receiving organisation in full. Selvans currently works with 8 social-welfare farms.
What material do we get for our sustainability report?
A sign-in sheet, time-stamped photos, the seedling handover form and the Sustainability Volunteer Certificate, plus volunteer hours, number of seedlings and an estimate of seedling costs saved by the social-welfare organisations. We also include template text you can adapt for the report. These are records of implementation and supporting evidence for social disclosure, for example under Taiwan's ESG assessment indicators S-3 (community development) and G-32 (sustainability plans and results).
How is this different from a beach clean-up or blood drive?
The difference is where the results go and whether you can trace them. A beach clean-up mainly produces photos and a headcount. Here, every seedling an employee plants has a clear destination in a social-welfare farm's planting plan, backed by a handover form and a certificate. Employees take home the herb salt they made, and the company gets data it can check.
Can we make it a family day and bring families along?
Yes. Adults and children can both do the propagation and the herb salt, and you can add the farm tour and farm-to-table lunch. Family days are NT$1,500–2,500 per person (indicative, adjusted to the actual programme), quoted by group mix and programme.
Can a volunteer day with Selvans count towards Buying Power?
Yes. Selvans is registered in Taiwan's Social Innovation Organisation Database, so a volunteer day counts as buying services from a social innovation organisation. We provide proof of purchase and an impact statement, and your company files the application.
